We have completed numerous studies for a variety of government and non-profit organizations.
For highway safety administrators in New York and Pennsylvania, and at the national level, we designed, fielded and interpreted research on underage drinking and driving; on passenger restraint devices; driver fatigue; and safe driving advocacy. Focus groups have been conducted among teenage motorists and their parents; interstate truck drivers; state and local police officers; district justices; and motor carrier safety directors. One study was a major component of a federal evaluation of the national commercial drivers license (CDL) program.
In healthcare and community health, we conducted a large-scale patient-centered survey of health assessment and clinical utilization for a regional health organization in a major U.S. market. Findings helped guide development of innovative consumer health services in a collaborative effort also involving VHA -- a national organization serving community-owned hospitals. Other studies have addressed Medicare Choices; hospital-sponsored programs for seniors; maternity services; physician office automation; and primary care physician practice improvements.
For community service and public policy organizations, we have conducted studies on taxpayer support for public libraries; county-wide social services needs assessment; and citizen and municipal officials' attitudes towards open space planning, priorities and funding.
Other government and non-profit sponsors include state and regional economic development agencies, travel and tourism organizations; public transit authorities; colleges and universities; religious and other voluntary organizations; and the U.S. Department of Commerce (Bureau of the Census).
